Chimpanzee trekking in Mahale National Park
Place and Duration
In the montane forests of Mahale National Park.
The duration varies according to the time it takes to locate the chimpanzees, which can be between one and five hours.
Once the chimpanzees have been located, the MAXIMUM observation time is 1 hour.
When and Minimum Stay
The minimum stay is 3 nights to be able to take part in at least 1 chimpanzee trek. To increase the chances of observing the chimpanzees, it is best to spend 4 nights and participate in at least 2 chimpanzee treks.
Restrictions
The minimum age for this activity is 12.
This activity is not recommended for guests with physical problems that prevent long walks over uneven, steep and potentially wet terrain.
The chimpanzee trekking is done in one group per day with a maximum of 6 people.
