Katavi National Park
REMOTE LOCATION
Its remote location in the west of the country makes Katavi National Park one of the least-visited wildernesses in Tanzania. One of the last places in Africa where you can feel the spirit of adventure and exploration that makes travelling to remote areas so worthwhile.
VARIETY OF LANDSCAPES
Seasonally flooded grasslands, forest areas, seasonal rivers and lakes make Katavi home to many different animal species, especially where these ecosystems meet.
HIPPOS, BUFFALOES AND ELEPHANTS
Approximately 4,000 elephants and herds of buffaloes numbering in their thousands roam the park during the dry season. Towards the end of the dry season, hippos gather in the remaining lagoons in herds of up to 200, while you can also spot large groups of crocodiles, making for some unforgettable photographs.
