Nyerere National Park (Selous)

EXCEPCIONAL POPULATION OF WILD DOGS
With the largest native population of wild dogs in Africa, spotting these magnificent creatures in Nyerere is a common occurrence, sadly not the case elsewhere on the continent, where they are increasingly rare.
STRIKINGLY DIVERSE LANDSCAPES
Nyerere’s geographical position and size makes for a staggeringly diverse range of landscapes and ecosystems. Dense forest, open savanna, palm fronded oases, rivers and lakes all combine to make the park one of the most picturesque in Africa.
LARGE NUMBERS OF ANIMALS
In Nyerere, the giraffes roam in large groups made up of both adults and calves. Lions, leopards, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, zebras, kudus, impalas and hyenas are all frequently photographed. In the former Selous Game Reserve, over 400 species of bird have been catalogued.
