Margherita Peak is the highest peak of Stanley Mountain and of the entire Rwenzori Range. It is the third highest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) and Mount Kenya (Kenya).
Although it is lower in altitude than the other two great African mountains, the ascent is much more challenging and technical, with the final sections requiring the use of ropes and crampons.
However, the specialist guide on this mountain will help you at all times with these technical aspects, so even if you do not have much experience, you will be able to overcome these difficulties.
It is very important to bear in mind that this is a high-mountain trek, so being in great physical shape is essential.
For all these reasons, the number of adventurers who decide to climb this mountain is much lower than that found on Kilimanjaro.
It is also crucial to bear in mind that the altitude can make the ascent difficult or even impossible, even with adequate physical preparation.
Due to the physical and health problems that may arise, special insurance for mountain activities is required.
This is a 10 days Expedition Trip:
The mountain huts are far from luxurious and are equipped with bunk beds for up to 6 people. The toilets, when available, are latrines.
If you are not prepared for this limited level of comfort, you might want to reconsider joining the expedition, however interesting it may appear.
It is only suitable for those who are used to mountains, to camping in the middle of nowhere without any services and are able to face and enjoy the unexpected.
