Zanzibar is an archipelago of over 50 small islands in the Indian Ocean, with Ugunja being the largest of these and its administrative centre.

The best white sand beaches and coral reefs are found on the east of the island, where many visitors choose to spend a few days decompressing after a safari. For those willing to continue the adventure, there’s still plenty to do, from snorkelling, diving and kayaking, and even kite-surfing.

Thanks to its distinctive and well conserved architecture and layout typical of the ancient Swahili culture, the old city of Stone Town is Zanzibar has benefited from UNESCO World Heritage status since 2000.
